Day on a small farm
Loading

This week we had a few new surprises our ducks started laying eggs one small one regular size the smaller one had just liquid no yolk they call that a “wind” or “dwarf” it’s considered an uncommon occurrence but, it was their first time so I am not to concerned. Our latest and newest flock of 9 chickens have been laying well all but one is laying every day and our oldest girls have been on a slacking roll with this crazy weather and not getting out is much I really think they like punish me or think that oh well Mom has some more newbies for this round we don’t have to work as hard lol. Each day is definitely different around here with having nineteen chickens one being a rooster and 6 ducks and 4 huskies I am never bored! This is our first flock of having one rooster with the crazy shortage this past spring it was like a real chicken chase in stores to find chickens I think I was at the local tractor supply each day and drove to several in our surrounding areas and finally scored ten we already had four rhode Island Reds and two Buff Orpingtons, two Barred Plymouth Rocks and one Black Australorp our other one of her passed this past late spring her named was Wobble’s she had gotten injured from one of her sisters and then was still hobbling and ended up egg bound with every effort we lost her. So this is where my husband suggested Wobble’s be my story and my new business adventure as Wobble Woods Farm.
